CHARMED: Comparing Hypertension Remote Monitoring Evaluation Redesign

Summary

Anjana Sharma, MD, MAS, CODEX Learning Hub faculty lead, is the engagement lead for the PCORI-funded CHARMED (Comparing Hypertension Remote Monitoring Evaluation Redesign) study with co-principal investigators Urmimala Sarkar, MD, MPH, CODEX internal advisory board member, and Courtney Lyles, PhD.

In this role, she ensures that each step of the study is aligned with patient and stakeholder priorities and input. She recruited, supports, and coordinates the patient and interprofessional consultants who are advising all phases of the study, which is implementing remote blood pressure monitoring in three safety-net primary care networks with the goal of closing implementation gaps in use impacting racial/ethnic minorities. For example, the patient and interprofessional consultants provided key input on how both a patient-facing and a clinic-facing intervention are being implemented and evaluated. Dr. Sharma is also leading the evaluation of these engagement activities as one of the study aims.
