Patients for Patient Safety US (PFPS US) is a network of people and organizations aligned with the World Health Organization (WHO) and focused on making healthcare safe in the United States. Led by people who have experienced medical error as a patient or in their families, PFPS's team is activated to advance the Global Patient Safety Action Plan 2021-2030 approved by the World Health Assembly in May 2021.

He first joined UCSF as a fellow in hospital medicine and clinical research, then went on to become a faculty member in the Division of Hospital Medicine at UCSF Health, where he held multiple leadership positions. As director of CoDEx, Sumant leads the center’s strategic planning and the execution of its work to champion diagnostic excellence research and build awareness of and engagement within the field.
