AI scribes promise to reduce documentation burden and allow clinicians to spend more time focused on patients. But what happens when the clinicians using them are still learning?
 
In this webinar, we’ll examine the early introduction of AI scribes into residency training at a large academic health system, where individual training programs took dramatically different approaches to when, where, and how residents could begin using the technology. Drawing on a primarily pre-implementation survey of residents alongside real-world utilization data, we’ll explore residents’ expectations and early experiences, patterns of adoption and use, and the tension between the potential benefits of AI-assisted documentation and concerns about clinical reasoning and skill development. We’ll also consider what these early findings can teach us about implementing AI in graduate medical education while balancing clinical efficiency with the educational needs of trainees.
