About the Symposium
In 2017 and 2019, Melbourne was the host to the 1st and 2nd Australasian Diagnostic Error in Medicine conferences. In 2021, the conference was renamed the Improving Diagnosis Conference, reflecting a mission to promote accurate and timely diagnosis and to learn from and reduce diagnostic error.
The symposium, like the previous conferences, hopes to bring together the diverse groups involved in the diagnostic process, including medical educators, general practitioners, physicians and surgeons, radiologists and pathologists, nurses, paramedics, allied health practitioners, researchers, quality managers, medical administrators, as well as medical and nursing students.
The symposium will foster lively discussion, with plenaries, workshops, and presentations of innovations and research in the field of diagnostic quality and safety. There will be a focus on education and clinical reasoning, the use of AI, local innovations, and practice improvements, as well as psychological safety to improve diagnosis. It will be an opportunity for networking with others working in the field and passionate about diagnostic excellence for patients.
