Job Description
The UCSF Division of Clinical Informatics and Digital Transformation (DOC-IT) and the UCSF Coordinating Center for Diagnostic Excellence (CoDEx) are seeking an internal candidate for the position of Faculty Director for the CoDEx Learning Hub. The role will receive 20% funding and will start in January 2025. The Learning Hub Faculty Director will report to Sumant Ranji, MD, the Director of CoDEx.
The mission of CoDEx is to lead change in the field of diagnostic excellence by facilitating activities that result in measurable improvement in diagnostic quality, safety, and equity. CoDEx’s Learning Hub is one of the 3 key pillars of the center’s work (the others being the Engagement Hub and the Action Incubator). The Learning Hub will provide the diagnostic excellence community with the latest information about emerging developments in the field, including research findings, educational advancements, practice innovations, and policy changes. A central part of the Learning Hub’s activity will be to highlight emerging trends in the rapidly advancing field of artificial intelligence to improve clinical diagnosis.
The Faculty Director for the CoDEx learning hub will lead these efforts, working as a team with the Learning Hub program manager and information specialist. They will carry out the following activities:

Surveil new research and emerging trends in diagnostic excellence in the published literature, grey literature, and other sources

Develop curated educational materials for 4 target audiences: the research community, medical educators and clinician learners, healthcare quality improvement professionals, and patients

Develop a strategy for disseminating content to the DxEx community on a regular basis via multiple modalities (newsletters, webinars, journal clubs, social media)

Partner with CoDEx staff and leadership to plan and conduct regular meetings for the DxEx field

Participate in other CoDEx work as relevant
Candidates for the position should have experience in improving diagnosis through education, research, or quality improvement. They should have strong writing and communication skills and the ability to work productively with an interdisciplinary team to meet deadlines. A background in patient safety or clinical informatics is preferred. Applicants must be a current UCSF faculty member in any series; volunteer faculty are not eligible. The successful candidate will receive a faculty appointment in DoC-IT (this may be a primary or secondary appointment).
